Bio

Emily Dickinson was born in Amherst, Massachusetts
on December 10, 1830. Dickinson grew up fairly wealthy
and received a good education at the Amherst Academy,
where she studied for several years.

As an adult, Dickinson constantly battled highs and
lows. The root of Dickson's depression stemmed from
countless deaths of her friends and loved ones. The
deaths affected her writing along with her mood.

In her later years, Dickinson completely isolated
herself from the outside world. Eventually, her
condition worsened and she died May 15, 1886.
